About Me

Full Name:  Evelyn F. Pontz

But please call me:  Evelyn

Position:  part-time secretary

Born where and when: Lancaster General Hospital, Lanc. PA,  Jan. 14

Family Facts:  Married to Rick.  Together we have 2 daughters, Becca and Maggie, a cat named Lefty, a dog named Brooke and 2 fish!

Education:  Graduated from Solanco High School and attended Millersville University majoring in Social Work

How I became a Christian:  A childhood friend of mine led me to Christ at a young age.  She shared the gospel with me and while we were at Black Rock Retreat, I asked Christ into my heart with her by my side.  While in my late teens and early 20’s I strayed – but my childhood friend reminded me that Christ is steadfast – He doesn’t stray from us.  I re-dedicated my life to Him shortly after I started attending FUMC.

How I ended up at First Church:  Rick and I had just moved back to Lancaster from the Outer Banks of NC.  In the mail, we received a flyer inviting us to a new contemporary service starting at First United Methodist Church in Lancaster.  God’s hand was in this situation totally – I came from a tiny Methodist church in NC w/ a membership of 15 and walked through those BIG doors off of Walnut Street with my 3 year old daughter in hand.  I was petrified!  The woman at the welcome center greeted me with open arms and a warm smile.  She made me feel right at home.  I’ve been here ever since!

The most important thing I do around here is:  Welcome visitors

Favorites

Music:  Contemporary Christian, esp. Casting Crowns.  I truly love all kinds of music, though.

Food:  Chocolate, chocolate and more chocolate!

Vacation destinations:  As a family, we often go to the Outer Banks – we love it there!  My mother always told me that if I had any extra money, use it to travel – the memories are something no one can ever take from you and your experiences and possibilities are endless!  I’ve been many places, but my list for the future is still HUGE!

Place to Eat in Lancaster:  Too many great restaurants to choose just one!

How I spend my free-time:  Spending time with my family, walking with my dog, gardening, stringing pearls/beads and scrapbooking.

Best book I’ve read recently:  Lifestories by Mark Hall

Nobody knows that I……keep guessing everyone!
