First Church welcomed the Pai Chai Chorale from Pai Chai High University and High School in Korea, now touring the USA with the Ewha University Chorus.
On Easter Sunday 1885, Henry and Ella Appenzeller (from First Church) and Horace Underwood (Presbyterian) landed at Inchon, Korea, as the first Protestant missionaries in what was called the “hermit kingdom.” These mission schools have produced new generations of leaders in every field of national, social, educational, cultural, and religious life in Korea.
This tour is one way the graduates say “thank you” for the lights sent in 1885 and in succeeding years to Korea. First Church was blessed to welcome the Pai Chai Chorale!
