At First Church we believe that Only 4 Things Matter. They are:
- What are you doing to BRING people into the church?
- What are you doing to RETAIN them?
- What are you doing to DISCIPLE them?
- What are you doing to SEND they back out into the world?
We ask you to be a Partner in getting this done. Partnership involves taking a step beyond membership. Membership implies rights and privileges and that is not what Jesus intended for the Church. Instead, partnership goes a step beyond to responsibility and ownership. Like the chicken and the egg getting ready for breakfast – one is involved and the other is committed.
As potential partners of First Church we ask you to commit to the ministries of First Church this year. Take a step by making a commitment to give this year. Your gift, no matter how big or small produces results for God’s ministry. Every commitment helps us to better plan how we can grow our ministries in the 4 Things that Matter in 2011.
Unlike previous years, this year is
different. This is a year to change and grow. We have a new pastor and new
worship times but what isn’t new is our mission to Connect people to Jesus Christ, Grow disciples, and
Relieve
suffering.
We want you to be a part of this – not from the sidelines as a member but in the thick of it, as a partner and owner. Together we can all make First Church the best it can be. Our 2011 Operating Budget (General Fund) will be starting from scratch and based on what our partners are willing to commit to do. This year among other things we hope to grow our Children’s Ministry by increasing the paid hours for the Director of Children’s Ministry. Some ministries will end, some will change, some will begin but when we are through they will all focus on the 4 Things that Matter.
For the next three (3) Sunday (October 10, 17 and 24) you will be hearing more about the 4 Things that Matter and how different ministry areas are working at them. On October 24th, in all three services, you will be asked to commit your partnership to paper. I have enclosed a Partnership Card so that you can begin to think and pray about what you plan to do. We are asking not only for a financial commitment but also a partnership commitment – will you stand side-by-side with First Church to reach our neighborhoods, our communities and our world for Jesus Christ. Please plan to attend and make your commitment known.
Yours
in God’s service,
