What is the 30 Hour Famine?

  • The 30 Hour Famine is an international youth movement where students will give up food for 30 hours, and raise money to help save lives through World Vision.
The Bad News:
  • 25,000 kids under age 5 will die today... most of them because of hunger, poverty, or disease
  • 13,000 of those kids will die just from causes related to hunger. That's one child every seven seconds.
  • More than a billion people - 1 in 7 on the planet - don't get enough to eat.
  • The odds are worse if you're a kid. In impoverished countries, around 1 in 4 children under age 5 don't get the food they need to stay alive and healthy.
The Good News:
  • It doesn't have to be this way. World hunger is totally, absolutely, one hundred percent preventable.
How to Get Involved:
  • Make an online donation towards our group goal [see below].
  • Sponsor a student at FUMC who is participating in this event.
  • Look for our booth in the north lobby [March 7 - 28].

There is a purple potty flushing out hunger all over town!
  • The first person to receive the potty pays $5 to send the toilet to the yard of their choosing
  • $10 removes the potty from your lawn—and you get to pick its next destination!
  • $15 buys potty insurance (it’s the best way to keep your lawn porcelain-free)
