Confirmation Class (8th Grade)
Confirmation is a vital part of our Student Ministry here at First Church. As part of our yearly curriculum all of our 8th graders are encouraged to attend the Sunday morning confirmation class led by Marge Kuhn and Joe Reed. Weekly teaching time and discussion is strengthened by mentor relationships for each confirmand, plus retreats and service projects throughout the year. A final Saturday evening Confirmation Banquet for confirmands, parents and mentors in May is a highlight of the year, followed the next day by the most important decision our confirmands make: being confirmed in the United Methodist Church here at First Church to honor God with their prayers, presence, gifts, service and witness.
We are excited this year to provide a new confirmation curriculum, Credo, which will lead our confirmands in a serious study of the scriptures, Christian faith and United Methodist doctrines. More information on Credo can be found here. Also, calendar of events for our confirmands, special announcements and important information can be found by clicking "Calendar" at the bottom of the page.
And finally, confirmation is a church-wide commitment that includes teachers, mentors, pastors, parents and volunteers. We all vow to support these confirmands when we accept them into this local church. Pray for them now, throughout the year and after they've made their decision to join you on this journey of faith.
If you are interested in volunteering for potential opportunities for this year's confirmation class please contact Eddie Cameron, Minister of Spiritual Growth and Confirmation Team Coordinator.
