Who is the First United Methodist Generosity Team?
The Generosity Team at First United Methodist Church is comprised of a group of people who live with a generous spirit, are passionate about sharing the good news of generosity, and believe that everyone’s path to developing a generous spirit begins with that first small step.
We believe that generosity is an opportunity to reflect the heart of God. Because He first loved us (1 John 4:19), we give because He first gave to us.
Our role is to encourage the generous stewardship of our congregation’s time, talents, and resources as each person can contribute. We are responsible for promoting Christian generous giving, assisting in communication and the preparation of the annual stewardship campaign, and other related projects as needed.
The First Church Generosity Team is chaired by Kent Kroehler. Other members include Marge Kuhn, Lisa Shank, T. J. Titcomb, and Pastor Jason Ríos (staff).

Why do we give?
First United Methodist Church would not be possible without your financial partnership. Your generosity impacts our community and supports our local and global partnerships. Financial partnership is a response to Christ's generous love for us. As we give, we reflect His heart, and our generosity impacts our world.
We believe in creating a legacy that will outlast us. We want to see a multi-generational church worshiping together and helping to create a movement of faith, passion, and transformation that grows stronger through the decades. We are Christ’s disciples, committed to connecting people to Jesus Christ and the church, growing Christian disciples and relieving suffering.
Our Annual Legacy Report serves as a way to help you see what God has accomplished through us as a church, and to see what is needed for us to effectively minister for the coming generations.

Common Questions about giving
What is a tithe or an offering?
The word "tithe" literally means tenth or 10%. Tithing is giving the first ten percent of our income back to God. The Bible says that everything we have comes from Him, so tithing is returning to God what belongs to Him. When we tithe, we put God first in our lives and trust Him to provide for our needs. An offering is what we give beyond the 10% we give.
What does my generosity support?
It takes financial resources to accomplish the work God has called us to do. Our obedient tithes and generous offerings enable First United Methodist Church to fulfill its mission to invite everyday people to experience the hope of Jesus in every way. Our generosity supports core and outreach ministries and fuels special projects and events.
