First United Methodist Church is blessed to have a large facility for ministry. The building provides opportunities for worship, discipleship and many opportunities to relieve suffering. Many community groups use the facility including AA and NA groups, Refuge Recovery, Anchorage Breakfast Program, American Home Life International, Bible study groups, prayer groups, and other missionary organizations. We even share worship space on Sunday Morning with The Church of Pentecost, a local church plant that holds service from 9:00 a.m. till 11:30 a.m. in our chapel.

First Church rents space to individuals, non-profit organizations and businesses.

For more information the Facility Manager.

Church committees and church activities need to have their events placed on the main church calendar.  This ensures that your group is provided the space and support you need to hold your activities.  Please be advised that each new calendar year, the church group needs to re-submit a request for their ongoing events and meetings.

Maintenance Team

FUMC is blessed with a 90,000 square foot building to hold all of its ministries.  The building is used heavily and is always in need of maintenance.  Since 2014 a small group of volunteers has been working hard to improve and maintain the building.  They have repainted rooms, replaced toilet valves, cleaned windows, cleaned air vents, re-organized keys, replaced hundreds of burnt out lights, replaced ceiling tiles and repaired many doors and windows.

The group is made up of men and women.  They are always looking for individuals who feel called to help with maintaining the building.

The group has two requirements for membership in the First Church Maintenance Team: You must agree to work at least 6 out of the 12 monthly days each year and contribute $100 each year to their fund.  The fund is separate from the budgeted maintenance line items and requires no further approvals for purchases.

The First Church Maintenance Team is an open group and they welcome anyone who will accept the two requirements.  For more information, call Kent Kroehler (717-569-5807) or email him at
